What others have to say about Cranford Engineering
“As close neighbours of Cranford Engineering we at Volkspeed have had the benefit of their many and various skills for many years. I cannot think of any occasion when we have presented them with a challenge that has not been met! There have been many minor, and sometimes major, emergencies which Paul and his men have engineered a solution to that are too numerous to mention. As an example of the range of their abilities Paul has designed and made our workshop sliding door system, repaired and rebuilt the gearbox of our roller brake tester, removed countless sheared and broken bolts from odd shaped automotive parts and welded weird shaped objects back together again. ……. All with great speed and efficiency …. brilliant.” ~ Chris Taylor. MD Volkspeed Engineering Ltd.
“A one piece chassis was required for the new GValveAudio mono-block valve power amplifier. Cranford Engineering was approached to assist in both design and machining the complex requirement, a chassis from a solid block of aluminium. Paul Browning who heads the engineering firm took on board what was required, a highly professional aluminium one piece chassis with dimensions of 440;240;100 mm to be finished with a black hard anodising. Paul translated my drawings, both raising complications and solutions to them, his help was invaluable. His knowledge and understanding of the machines produced the quality of product required and excellent logo spark engraved on the front face.” ~ Gavin Myers, GValveAudio
“We have used Cranford Engineering for some 30 years now and have always found them to be extremely helpful, receiving good, prompt service and good advice and accuracy on various engineering jobs appertaining to our business of repairing Rolls-Royce and Bentley Cars. We would thoroughly recommend them.” ~ Paul Brightman & Patrick Lloyd-Jacob, Partners – Royce Service & Engineering
“Cranford Engineering have been making me small parts for a long time. I’m not a big customer, but even my modest demands are met on time, and with fantastic precision. I don’t think there is anything that Paul and his team can’t make! If you visit the workshop it looks like a “real” workshop with proper machines. But don’t be fooled – all of it is state of the art, backed up with good software, and the skill to transfer your ideas or drawings into reality – and you might even get a cuppa.” ~ Stuart Gurney, STUART GURNEY DESIGN
'I sent a picture to my family, saying that your workshop was the kind of place that ‘made Britain great’
“I have known Paul Browning of Cranford Engineering for over 20 years and have always found him to be reliable and trustworthy, nothing is too much trouble. “Cranford Engineering is much more than just a ‘machine shop’ and has helped us improve our products with simple and sometimes high level, experienced, engineering design input. Quality work delivered on or ahead of time has created, consistently over many years, a highly valued supplier.” ~ Dr Steve Cousins, Matrix Seating Ltd
“Paul provides a high quality engineering service. The parts he’s produced for me have always been within the tolerances specified and to a high standard of finish. More than that he offers creative solutions backed by an extensive knowledge of a broad range of engineering processes and he has the practical hands-on experience to be able to provide many of those services himself.” ~ Ben May, Director – IDC Production at Industrial Design Consultancy

In that time we have placed orders for and received on time from them in excess of 7,000 rubber mould tools ranging from small single cavity prototype hand tools to 100 cavity 400 ton vacuum compression tools up to 750mm square. “I am absolutely delighted with the help that Cranford Engineering provided with my grandson’s go-kart project. Your response to my rather urgent request was quite amazing – you immediately grasped exactly what was needed, contributed many useful ideas to the design, and produced the axles very quickly at a very reasonable cost. You also took the time to give my grandson (and also Viv and me!) a most interesting tour of your machine shop – an experience that we will both remember for a long time! Thank you! Best wishes, ~ Bob Colvill
“Cranford Engineering managed to fix a damaged thread to the float bowl assembly of a Holley Carburettor from a Chrysler V8 engine. Whilst the job was small, it was not a straight forward rethreading job. Despite this, Paul was happy to take it on and find a solution to my problem. He was helpful in explaining what was involved, the timeframe and likely cost associated with the work. The job itself was carried out very promptly and the quality of the work was excellent. The end result was a carburettor that functioned again and one happy customer.” ~ Darren Anderson
“I came, yesterday, to have the cylinder head skimmed for my 1939 Daimler DB18 (which belonged to King George VI). It was great to meet you, and to be able to watch the head being skimmed – I learned a lot from you in the process. I sent a picture to my family, saying that your workshop was the kind of place that ‘made Britain great’ – in the height of its engineering prowess – but is all-too-rare today. I am sure I shall be back for further jobs in future. Kind regards, Richard Pawsonn
